Entrepreneurship, cooking, Northern Michigan living
Northern Michigan in the winter is a state of mind. There is so much to do in the summer here in these northern parts and we are well known for it. But winter people, you know who you are, appreciate northern Michigan just as much in the winter as the summer people love summer. Northern Michigan is winter centric. The center of all things to do in the snow. There is skiing, snowshoeing, winter rafting, skating, tobogganing, snowmobiling, and so on! Have I sold you on the plethora of things to do in the winter?!! The key is to dress for it.
How about throwing a little wine tasting in the mix. Because, you see, Northern Michigan also does wine well the whole year round! How about putting wine tasting, igloos and snowshoeing all together for a fun day in the snow? Our winter edition of the Restless Chef takes you to Boyne Valley Vineyards.
What a day we had visiting this winery! This place has it all. Excellent wine choices, vineyards, snow shoes, snow shoe trails, heated igloos to sip wine in with your friends, and a cozy fire in an adorable lodge.
So, my husband and I head out to Boyne Valley Vineyards and decided to try it all. As long as you order a glass of wine, you have access to free snow shoes and are pointed in the right direction of the trails on their property. After taking a breathtaking trek through the sparkling snow, we end up back at the lodge for our glass of wine by the fire. Perfect.
Come back to our cozy B & B close by and you’ve got yourself a perfect weekend. I hope this has you thinking twice about the cold stuff. It’s not a bad thing! Don’t waste time waiting for summer to come. Northern Michigan is waiting for you all year long!
